All About the Ladies

All About the Ladies

The new collection of art I’m sharing is a lot about the ladies.

I didn’t set out to make a grand statement or celebrate women in some formal way. I picked and chose images for inspiration. Over time, I noticed I had a consistent style. They were images saying, I am a woman, and you should not underestimate me.

In particular, I looked for something that showed off our contradictory nature.

I am soft and strong.

I am delicate and powerful.

I am kind but not intimidated.

I am smart but I don’t have to be in charge.

I represent beauty in my smooth lines and curves, but underneath, I hide a core of steel.

These qualities are not limited to those who “identify” as female. Anyone can feel that pull between contradiction and balance. It is the tension of being both gentle and unbreakable.

As I got going, I found some images of male figures who also show their dual nature. One shows clear strength and deep exhaustion. Another is posed in a display of power, yet his expression reveals emotional struggle.

Still, I admit it’s the women who sparked my imagination first. Their facial expressions or the pose of their body make me very curious.

What led to this moment?

What would she say if she could speak right now?

Why do I feel drawn to her story?

Women are complex beings, sometimes even confusing ourselves. Life would be dull without us. We hold secrets, insights, and contradictions that make us endlessly interesting.

Daily life has us trying to be simple and real, it’s only  practical. But, I indulge myself on the reminders of all we hold inside. I am not a dancer and I do not look like the ladies who inspired the art.

The importance is that I connect with these ladies. The beauty and grace of one figure and the grit of another are both parts of me. I think (at least I hope) that makes sense to more than just me.

A series of unexpected personal events got me to risk sharing my art. Since I have, I  hope to find others who relate to what I relate to. Like my original inspiration images, I am now curious about your story. So, stay a while. What piece has caught your attention from my art? I cannot wait to find out!

If you are not sure how to jump in, don’t give up. I am just getting familiar all things social media related.
